Bernie Sanders has been a personal financial advisor with Investors Financial Advisors/IFAWEALTH since its inception in 1997 and previously served in the same capacity for six years at American Express Financial Advisors. He continues to maintain offices in Roanoke and the New River Valley with Plott and French Financial Advisors. Earlier in his career, Bernie owned and operated businesses in Salem and Ferrum, VA. He also worked for Mod-U-Kraft Homes in Rocky Mount, VA in a sales and quality control capacity.
Bernie is an avid cyclist. He has multiple masters age group Virginia state championships in his palmares. Additionally, he holds two national championships (2005/2006) in two different disciplines and is Virginia’s first masters road race world champion (08/2010 St. Johann in Tirol, AUSTRIA). He is an active member of the Roanoke Triathlon Club and Fellowship Community Church-Southwest. A native of Roanoke, he and his wife Barbara and (Goldendoodle/OZ) continue to make their home in Roanoke City. He attended Cave Spring High School, class of 1968; attended Lees McRae College before transferring to Gardner Webb University where he earned a B.S. degree in Business Management.
