Paul specializes in wealth management, retirement and estate planning for a limited number of individuals and small businesses for whom he can have a substantial impact.
Paul has broad international experience in senior company management in the UK, Belgium, Canada and the United States. In 1997 he brought this background to Financial Services and began his career in Wealth Management with American Express Financial Advisors. This decision was strongly influenced by seeing the fulfillment of his parents’ long and happy retirement that was made possible by their history of successful investing. He passionately believes that bringing this experience to other families is a goal worth pursuing.
In 2005, he and Mary Plott, ChFC, founded Plott & French Financial Advisors.
Paul is a graduate in Chemical Engineering from the University of Exeter, England. Prior to his career in wealth management he was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for a US subsidiary of Mitsui Kinzoku of Tokyo Japan, and Vice President of Marketing with Arcade, Inc., a specialty chemical and printing company supplying the fragrance industry.
Paul and his wife, Janet, live in Blacksburg. He is a Past President of the Blacksburg Torch Club, past Chairman of the YMCA at Virginia Tech, and past President and current member of the Estate Planning Council of the New River Valley. Paul is an active member in a number of local civic organizations including the Blacksburg Breakfast Lions and Christiansburg-Blacksburg Rotary Club. In his spare time he is an active Coxswain with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
