Tawana Rivera-French joined Plott and French in 2020. She particularly enjoys opportunities to help and work with those who have gone through recent life events, such as divorce, death of a loved one, or a family addition, who are looking not just for guidance, but also someone who is patient and takes the time to understand and explain different financial topics that they may be unfamiliar with. She also specializes in empowering successful women and entrepreneurs.
Her personal philosophy is to empower others through knowledge and commitment to their vision of what defines a meaningful life. Her approach involves thoroughly understanding clients’ needs and objectives, developing personalized investment strategies, and providing comprehensive education for clients to make informed financial decisions.
Prior to joining Plott and French Financial Advisors, Tawana served as a credit analyst in the banking industry specializing in corporate banking and oil and gas financing, and has an extensive background in Financial Aid and Finance at Virginia Tech.
Tawana is a native of Puerto Rico, grew up in New York City, is fluent in Spanish, and dedicated to supporting her community. Tawana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Law from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. In addition, she holds Series 7 Securities License.
She lives in Blacksburg with her husband Chris, their baby son Henry, and golden retrievers Winston and Athena. She is passionate about volunteerism and giving back to her community and serves as a member of the Blacksburg Lions Breakfast Club, the Radford P.E.O. organization, Rainbow Riders Childcare Center PTA, and translator for the Montgomery County Christmas Store. In her spare time, she enjoys watching football and baseball, travelling, reading, cooking, exploring all Virginia has to offer.
